Epicenter conference embraces security

Hi everyone,

I announced a while back on this blog that I was going to be speaking at the Epicenter conference in Dublin this August. I’m happy that I can now tell you more about my presentations at this conference.

I will be presenting twice on the 26th August covering the Security Risks of Web 2.0 and The Principles of Secure Development. Both presentations can be seen individually and both will deliver valuable web application security knowledge to any attendee but seeing them both will give attendees a big dose of web application security knowledge!

The two presentations have been written so they are useful on their own but in short the first presentation details the potential problems whilst the second presentation will detail how you can prevent them in your own code.

I have to congratulate Epicenter for embracing web application security and having myself, Eoin Keary and Peter Kovac talking about security on the Web track of the conference.

It appears that web application security is really getting traction in Ireland finally with these talks at Epicenter, the upcoming OWASP Ireland Conference and the Irish Internet Associations Web Development Working Group proof of the increased interest and knowledge in the country. I remember talking at the IWTC (Irish Web Technology Conference) in 2008 and being the only security presenter, 18 months later we are seeing 4 security presentations!

A happy Security Ninja!
